Teacher Profiles

We thought you might want to know a little bit about us, and we sure love to talk about ourselves... Seriously though, all of our teachers are active musicians with a passion for sharing music with others. Oh, and they're background checked too! No creepers. We promise.

Brian S. Morales // Drums, Guitar, Percussion, Piano, Music Theory/Songwriting

Brian has been playing percussion and drum set for 13 years and has been teaching for 8 years. He spent two years as the Percussion Caption Head for Cathedral City High School Royal Regiment band program where he taught drumline and percussion and oversaw the drumline instructional staff. He spent three years as the school's Front Ensemble Percussion Director and Arranger. He has also served as director of percussion for James Workman Middle School, and done drumline clinic work with North Canyon High School and Nellie Coffman Middle School.

Brian has been a part of three Drum Corps International world championship groups in 2004, 2006, and 2007. He has been a part of the GROOVE Percussion Ensemble, played drum set and guitar for various musical theatre productions, performed with Riverside City College's award winning Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble, and played with numerous jazz combos. He currently plays drum set with the Scottsdale Community College Big Band, and plays drum set, percussion, and guitar with McDowell Mountain Community Church.

Alex Daiko // Piano and Music Theory

Alex began studying music at the young age of 6, starting with piano and eventually learning guitar. He has performed in many recitals and has been a part of various musical theatre productions both on piano and as an actor. He began teaching private lessons in 2003. Alex received his degree in piano performance from Ohio State University in 2007.

Jason Winkler // Guitar, Drums, Beginning Piano

Genuine, vibrant, and efficient, Jason is outfitted with a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Liberal Studies from Thomas Edison State College. He has a passion for teaching music, and is energetic, sincere, and keen to pass down knowledge to those who want to learn and become better musicians. Jason has performed in various local venues and currently plays with his band The Slackers.

David Ochoa // Guitar, Jazz Theory and Improv, Beginning Piano

David Ochoa has been playing guitar since the age of 11. Despite an early interest in rock, metal, and blues, exposure to jazz led him to pursue an education in Jazz Studies at various institutions across the country such as Berklee's 5-Week Program, The University of North Texas, and Arizona State University. In addition to these educational experiences, David has also studied under teachers such as Scott Kruser, Fred Hamilton, Eric Rasmussen, Jeff Libman, and Barb Catlin. It is through these educational experiences that David brings a unique perspective and effective teaching methods to help his students reach their musical goals. He is currently pursuing a degree in Jazz Studies at Arizona State University.
